Star Wars Pop Art

My Star Wars 3D pop art are some of the most popular pieces I sell.

The artwork features the galaxy's favorite bounty hunter Boba Fett and inter-galactic best buddies: R2-D2 and C-3PO.

People have been asking me if I could include a listing in my Etsy Shop where you can buy all three pieces together.

I'm happy to say that option is now available HERE.

As an added bonus I've made purchasing the set cheaper than it would be to buy all three pieces separately.

Each piece is rendered in 3D with hand cut paper cut pieces.

All three pieces are framed individually in identical black box frames.

Dimensions: 5x7″ FRAMED

Cereal Mascots

Lately, I've been working on creating colorful 3D pop art based on popular cereal mascots.

So far, I've been able to put together pieces inspired by

Count Chocula,

Frankenberry

and Boo Berry.

I think they are really fun and whimsical.

The colors really pop and make me think back to my childhood when I'd be glued in front of the television watching Saturday morning cartoons and seeing advertisements for all my favorite cereal treats.

Halloween's Michael Myers

Years ago he stalked his teenage babysitter Laurie Strode on Halloween with the intentions of murdering her, but that doesn't necessarily make him a bad guy.  Maybe Michal Myers just needs a loving home.

Michael Myers is one of the most recognizable horror icons of all time and he's definitely one of my favorites!

I was working on a pop horror piece of Freddy, Jason, Chucky and Michael Myers that would be similar in style to my Beatles piece.  However, when I got around to drawing Michael Myers with his simplistic, scary mask, I just knew I had to create a stand alone Michael Myers piece.

The Michael Myers artwork features a 3D cartoon rendering of the mask wearing killer holding his knife.

Michael's body is in 2D, while his mask and knife are in 3D.

Michael Myers comes framed in a beautiful black box frame, measuing 10x10."

It's the perfect gift for horror movie lovers!  You can purchase the Michael Myers 3D artwork by clicking HERE.

Trick r Treat Sam

With the summer winding down Halloween is right around the corner.

One of my all-time favorite horror movies is Trick r Treat.  The film features Sam; the mysterious pint sized creature wearing his shabby orange pajamas with a burlap sack over his head.

He was so fun to draw and just as much fun to cut out.

Sam's burlap hood is rendered in 2D, while his eyes and lollypop knife are in 3D.

The artwork comes framed in a black box frame and is hand signed.

Dimensions: 5x5" framed

Statue of Liberty

In honor of the 4th of July Celebration this weekend, I created a new Statue of Liberty 3D pop art piece.

The artwork incorporates a papercut Statue of Liberty and lovely white cloud.

Hand-cut pieces are glued layer by layer to the background picture. Since every piece of artwork I create is hand-cut, constructed and embellished differently, collectors of my artwork each receive a unique piece of art.

The cloud is rendered in 2D, while the Statue of Liberty is rendered in 3D.

The artwork comes framed in a black box frame. This piece is hand signed and ready to hang!

Dimensions: 5x5" framed

To learn more about the artwork please visit my Etsy Shop by clicking HERE.

This 4th of July I plan on going to West New York with my wife and family to watch the fireworks over the Hudson.  We went last year and the firework display was amazing!  I can't wait to see what kind of show they put on this year.

What are your 4th of July plans?

New Babies Custom Artwork

As you know, I love when I'm commissioned to create custom 3-D artwork.

And while all of the commissions I am requested to create are exciting and unique, there's something extra, extra special about creating a piece for a brand new baby!!!

Recently, I had the great pleasure of creating two customs pieces to welcome two new babies into the world.

The first piece I created was for a boy: Gavin.  His parents wanted me to incorporate a sports theme into the picture.  I used three of their favorite sports: basketball, soccer and baseball.

The next custom baby piece I was asked to create was for a girl: Emma.  This piece was very unique because the request was to just have the letters in 3-D without any sort of picture.  I had never created artwork with just the letters in 3-D before but I am very happy with the way it came out.

Welcome to the world Gavin and Emma!  I hope you and your parents love the artwork.

If you are interested in having your own custom 3-D artwork commissioned, feel free to email me at josh@popsicart.com.  I'd love to hear your ideas.

Custom Marvel Superhero Commission

As you know, one of my favorite things to do is create custom commissioned pieces.  In the past I've been commissioned to create 3-D artwork of people's children, grandchildren and pets.  Other times, people ask me to create a custom piece based on their favorite television show or movie.

Recently, I was commissioned to create a superhero-themed 3-D pop art piece for a woman's husband's birthday.  It was one of my most fun commissions I've ever done!

I'm a huge superhero fan and so was this woman's husband.  She said some of his favorites included Captain America, Spiderman, Hulk and Wolvernie, who are all from the Marvel Comics universe.

I was very excited to work on the piece and I'm very happy with the way it turned out.  I hope the woman's husband liked it as well.

Adorable Ladybug

We celebrated Memorial Day this year with my wife's family.  She has two brothers and one sister.  They each have children.  So, as you can probably imagine, everytime her family gets together there's a lot of people.

We had a very nice time.  The food was delicious and best of all, the five children all played together nicely.  My wife bought waterguns for all of them.

Somewhere between water gun fights, hot dogs, hamburgers and BBQ chicken, my niece Gianna asked if I could create a piece of ladybug art for her.  Knowing how much Gianna loves ladybugs I got to work on the piece as soon as I got home that evening.

I was so happy with the way it came out that I decided to offer additional versions of the piece in my SHOP.

This adorable ladybug 3-D pop art features a cute, smiling ladybug resting comfortably against a light green background. The ladybug is composed in 2-D, while the ladybug's shell is in 3-D.

The artwork comes framed in a black box frame. The piece is hand signed.
This is the perfect addition for ladybug collectors. The artwork is also perfect for a child's bedroom or playroom.

Dimensions: 5x5" framed

Thank you Gianna for giving me the inspiration to created this 3-D pop art ladybug piece.

I hope you love the one I gave to you.

Star Wars Art

I'm sure by now you've guessed that I'm a huge Star Wars fan.  I've been drawing Darth Vader, R2-D2 and Boba Fett around the same time that I first learned to hold a pencil.

The Star Wars themed 3-D pop art pieces I've completed have been extremely popular.

Last weekend, I was participating in an art show in Millington, New Jersey.  My Mom, who is always supportive, volunteered to help me out for the day.  She's wonderful that way!

As the day went along we met so many wonderful people.  The R2-D2 and Boba Fett pieces I brought to show sold even better than I could have possibly imagined.

It was at the end of the day, as my Mom and I were packing up and reflecting on the pieces we had sold, when my Mom asked me something I never thought of before.

"The R2-D2 piece is so popular," she pointed out. "How come you don't have a C-3PO piece to go along with him?"

It was a brilliant question that I didn't have an answer to.

So, with my Mom's suggestion, I got to work putting together a C-3PO pop art piece.

Now C-3PO and R2-D2 can continue on their adventures together.

The 3-D pop artwork is hand-signed and comes framed in black.

C-3PO is the perfect companion piece to my other Star Wars 3-D pop artwork, which includes his buddy R2-D2 as well as the merciless bounty hunter Boba Fett. Each piece is sold separately and come framed and ready to hang.

All artwork is available in my Etsy Shop.

Boba Fett...Where?

In case you haven't guessed, I'm a huge Star Wars fan.  I'm not so much a fan of the prequels but I do love the original trilogy.

Aside from Darth Vader, my favorite villian is no other than the merciless bounty hunter Boba Fett. Who else would be smooth enough to follow and capture Han Solo?

I've been working on creating a Boba Fett 3-D piece for a while, and after several attempts, I am finally satisfied with how it came out.

Boba Fett measures 5x5" and comes framed in a black.  It is the perfect companion piece to the R2-D2 artwork that is also available.

To purchase either Star Wars piece, or to find more 3-D pop artwork, please visit my Etsy Shop.

I'm really excited about the most recent custom piece I completed, which has to do with superheroes. However, I can't post any photos of it yet since it was commissioned as a birthday present and he doesn't know he's getting it.  His birthday is June 6th so I'll post a picture shortly after that.

Stay tuned...

Swinging Party

While Woodstock and the counter-culture hippie movement of the 1960s has been inspiring to many, the look from the 1960s that I implement in certain pieces of my art can be traced back to the Rat Pack era.

To me there's something so -- I don't know -- swank -- about the black tie look and sophistication of the 1960s social scene.

It was with that snapshot of the 1960s in mind that I created "Swinging Party."

The artwork brings you back to a time where everything was hip, groovy and cool. Two girls for every guy.

Watch as the handsome leading man spends the evening with his two ladies, calmly enjoying both their company and his cigarette.

This artwork features the unique threesome displayed in 2-D, while their faces and the gentleman’s cigarette are rendered in 3-D. The artwork is hand signed.

It is available for purchase in my Etsy Shop.

Pink Playboy Bunny

Recently, I've been watching the documentary "Hugh Hefner: Playboy, Activist and Rebel" on Netflix's streaming video.  It's an interesting movie, giving insight not only into Hugh Hefner's Playboy empire but also highlighting his exploits, activism and sexual politics.

The documentary inspired me to create a 3-D pop art piece based on the iconic Playboy Bunny.

Popping out against the pink background, the bunny is rendered in 3-D.

The artwork comes FRAMED and ready to hang.

Dimensions: 5×5″ FRAMED
